Day 89, Thursday

I had only a few minutes today and made a stop at a little park beside the canal.  It was really cold out, and this poor robin looked really chilled sitting in the tree.  The blossoms are still beautiful, though, and hopefully will survive the snow that's expected tomorrow.

Day 88, Wednesday

Today I put the same extension tube on the 50 mm prime lens, and got much sharper images than with the other lens yesterday.  I'm quite pleased with that!  But I didn't take enough time to select my subjects so the compositions are ... meh.

Day 87, Tuesday

I have been playing around with an old lens to see if it's better than my regular wide angle, but I'm not very happy with the focus.  Granted, the extension tube makes it harder to focus, but still, I think I'm going to try next time with my 50 mm prime lens and an extension tube.  Here is today's effort, but I know I can do better.

Day 86, Monday

It was Knifeworks today, under a brilliant sun and a chilly wind.  There were more birds than I expected, although I didn't spot any "specials", just the usual suspects.  I loved the blossoms on the wild apple trees, and the big ploppy things coming off the still-bare maples were awesome!

WEEK 13, Day 85, Sunday

The weather seems to be turning again, and the sakura (Japanese cherry blossom tree) outside has burst into bloom.  I also finally had some inspiration for the next instalment of my Food Alphabet.

Day 84, Saturday

A rainy day, but still relatively warm for this time of year.  I've been occupied all day with some computer work, but I took a break to enjoy the gorgeous apricot blossoms on the tree in the backyard.  The raindrops only added to the beauty of the blossoms.

I liked this one so much I made it into my wallpaper!

Day 83, Friday

The weather is about to change, so I made a trip out to Beamer Conservation Area.  The birds were very quiet, and all I saw were some robins and juncos, but I enjoyed my walk on the escarpment very much.

Day 82, Thursday

Another gorgeous day, another walk in the woods.  This time I went to a very small out-of-the-way place with a winding, root-crossed path that hugged the shore of Lake Ontario.  It was very calm, and there was barely a ripple on the water, making it easy to spot the few ducks that were there.  I did make a marvelous discovery - 2 new additions to my Life List!  I'm thrilled!  There was a Green-Winged Teal, and a Blue-Winged Teal, swimming together with a female that I believe was a green-winged.  There was a pair of kingfishers, zooming about and chattering incessantly - maybe some kind of mating ritual?  I also saw lots of the "usual suspects", robins, song sparrows, blue jays and ring bill gulls.

Day 81, Continued

Here are a few more photos from my walk on Wednesday.
