Day 102, Wednesday

My flight home was uneventful.  I took a seat by the window, making sure I was in a position to be able to get a shot of the mountains as I came in to the Calgary airport to change planes.  Unfortunately, it was quite hazy, and the mountains didn't "pop" as I hoped, but I still got some shots I liked.

Day 101, Tuesday

A quick errand to downtown Edmonton gave me a great opportunity to capture some of the urban views of this new metropolis.

Day 100, Monday

A long, long hallway that I've seen many times, and always wanted to photograph has finally yielded to my lens.  These are also some shots of my mom, doing her favourite pastime - reading.

Week 15, Day 99, Sunday

A gloriously beautiful day, and I headed out with my niece to Lois Hole Nature Preserve, a significant wetland in St. Albert, Alberta.  A wide stream meanders through the countryside and empties into Big Lake, which gives plenty of space for a variety of species of ducks and a plethora of Canada geese.  It had been improved quite a bit since last time I was here a few years ago, and the boardwalk through the reeds and tussocks of grass stretched for a couple of kilometers at least.  It is still only very early spring here, and there was a lot of ice on the lake and snow on some of the tussocks.  We walked for 3 hours, and enjoyed every step.

Day 98, Saturday

I visited my niece today, who has the cutest little dog.  I was counting on getting some decent shots of Molly, but alas, she was not really inclined to pose.  I did learn something, though.  Photographing pets is not as easy as it looks!

Day 97, Friday

I borrowed a unique set of items from my nephew, who recently returned from Prague.  On his trip, he encountered an old blacksmith, who created interesting human figures out of cast iron.  I used a white dropcloth for the background, but clearly this was not the right setup to do these justice.  Time for a trip to Dollarama for a white posterboard, to create a seamless white!  Then I will attempt to reshoot these with a little more pinache.  In the meantime, my mom has some tulips blooming in containers by the window, and they gave my day`s shooting a burst of colour.
