Day 96, Thursday

What a storm!  It snowed all day, petering out toward evening.  By supper, the sun had broken through, and the snow was already starting to melt.  But that's April in Edmonton!

Day 95, Wednesday

I had an opportunity today to go to a lovely little out-of-the-way nature reserve, the Clifford E. Lee off Hwy 60 in Alberta.  I love having a boardwalk!  Pussywillows were everywhere.  It's still a little early for many birds, but I saw a lot of chickadees and American tree sparrows.  A redpoll came along to grab a few seeds from a feeder, and there were two pairs of Canada geese sitting on the ice, apparently pondering the puzzle of why there was no open water.

Day 94, Tuesday

I finally had a chance to aim my lens at all the beautiful flowers in my mother's apartment.  I used a 50 mm prime for all, some with and some without an extension tube.  I had lots of natural indirect lighting from a nearby window, and a little help from the near-white wall behind.  I also used my SunPac ring light on the Medium setting.

Day 93, Monday

Today was my mother's birthday, and she got loads of beautiful flowers from those who love her.  I spent most of the day squiring her about, so I didn't have the time or energy I would have liked to shoot them, but I did these hand-held with my 50 mm prime, an extension tube, and a SunPac circular LED light.  Tomorrow we are going to stay in and just relax, so I can spend a little more time and attention on getting some better shots of these beauties.
Whew, it's tough to stay with the 365 when on holidays!  But I haven't missed a day!

Week 14, Sunday, Day 92

I had some free time today, so I took some more shots of the interesting things around my sister's home.

Day 91, Saturday

Today was a family get-together, and I got some good shots of family, some candids and some posed.  But I'm uncomfortable posting people pictures, so I have just this one to post.  It's not a great shot, I agree, but I did learn something.  I've always been weak in changing backgrounds on my photos, but I think I did a pretty decent job this time.

Day 90, Friday

NOTE:  Although my posting to the blog may be intermittent while I am away from home, I am staying with my daily commitment for the shooting.  Today is Monday, April 2nd.

I'm staying with my sister Kathy for a few days, and today we're going shopping and having lunch with my sisters and mom.  I love this part of my visit!

Kathy is a world traveler, and has all kinds of cool things around her house.  Today, being short of time and energy, I chose some dried acorns from a basket full of various nuts, seeds and other mysterious objects.  It's interesting how a change in the DOF (aperture) makes such a difference!
